what IS a story?

all those quotes and yet, not one of them defines what a story really is.
I think a story is a story if there is an audience for it.
Whether the story is true is irrelevant, whether u TELL The story to the audience is irrelevant as well.
As long as the audience exists.
and yes, that doesnt explain "story" either :)
